English is one of the most complex and
complicated languages on the planet. Fortunately for most of us, we have been students of English since
birth. We use it every single day in the form of spoken word, written sentence, e-mail, text message, and so on.
It has many variations - Old English, modern English, slang, regional dialects, adages, colloquialisms, and more - that only
add to its complexity. In what other language can a word spelled exactly the same (for example, tear)
be pronounced differently and have totally different meanings?
No one can ever truly master the English language, but in my classes we will do our best to learn and practice all of its
intricacies and, at the very least, appreciate the native tongue that many of us take for granted.
My Teaching Philosophy:
Bringing Your Best
In my opinion, in order to achieve success at a high level you must first be willing to learn with the same kind of vigor
and gusto. As your teacher, I will provide a positive classroom environment, numerous opportunities for individual and
group work, and an abundance of thought-provoking activities to help you open the door. In exchange I ask each
student bring his or her own personal best effort to class each and every single day. Working together, we can and will
move you towards a bright future.
